Being a Yoga Teacher means orienting your life towards your highest potential and is a commitment to yourself but as well to others.

During this training we will all work closely according to where you are in your understanding and your own practice of Ashtanga and Yin/Restorative Yoga. Our intention is to properly train yoga students to become strong, confident, knowledgeable teachers.

In addition to all the relevant information about Yoga Philosophy, Theory and Teaching skills, we do put a strong emphasis on developing your personal practice and cultivating your personal growth so your training will be oriented to deepen your own practice while showing you how to teach others.

By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently teach the traditional Ashtanga Vinyasa Primary series and a Restorative class.

LOCATION

Yoga Bliss is located on Lembongan island, 30 minutes away from Bali. As a lot of travellers say it’s like Bali used to be 20 years ago. White sandy beach, blue clear water, quiet and a perfect spiritual place. This island paradise begin to be a must to visit from Bali away from the traffic jam or the hawkers. A perfect place to relax, where the only things to do are diving, snorkelling, surfing, hiking, sunbathing and yoga.

Our shala is in the heart of Lembongan close to all commodities. The beach is only 5 minutes away, but as you will see everything is really close on the island as its size is approximately 8km².

FOOD

Food is important as it’s what keeping us functioning. We choose what we eat but sometimes we loose track and it can be hard in our busy world to take care of ourselves. What you eat affects your body and your mind in different way.

During your training with us you will have the time to explore new food, new way of eating and cleansing, It will always be a choice coming from you and we will not ask you to follow a particular path.

We will provide you 3 meals a day of healthy local food at our Green Garden Eco Warung, located at the same place than the shala. You will have the choice between a vegan, a vegetarian and a meat option.

ACCOMMODATION

During your course you will stay in a partner Guesthouse or directly in one of our wooden bungalow. The guesthouse is located just 5 minutes walk from Yoga Bliss and offers nice room with double large bed, AC or fan, private bathroom and wifi. The wooden bungalows are just at the back of the yoga shala and offer AC, double bed, private bathroom and a mini fridge.

PROGRAM

Your training will be oriented to deepen your own practice (Ashtanga and Yin Yoga) while showing you how to teach others.

Asana: The morning practice will always be the Ashtanga full primary series led class or Mysore style focusing on building strength and flexibility while the afternoon will be a Yin or Restorative practice to restore physical balance and calm the mind.

Meditation: We will introduce meditation techniques from the Hatha yoga and Tantric traditions.

Anatomy and physiology: We will be discussing how the bones, muscles, joints, and all of the systems of the body interact.

Pranayama: We will be teaching different techniques to control the prana that rides on the breath. Different pranayama create different effects on the body, mind and energy system–some more activating and some more calming. We will be using pranayama in conjunction with the flow of poses, in addition to using it as a lead-in to meditation.

Asana and teaching lab: Learning to align ourselves correctly in poses keeps us safe from injury and stable, while experiencing the benefits. We will inform you of how to correctly align yourself, and your students in postures by teaching different variations to effectively teach to all levels. The teaching of hands-on adjustments will also be discussed so that students can be physically guided into better alignment, more depth and/or relaxation in postures.

Philosophy, texts and concepts: We will touch on the connections between Eastern philosophy, Hindu mythology and Yoga. Supplemental texts Yoga Mala and The Heart of Yoga will be the inspiration behind most of our discussions that relate to all of the aspects of the course as a whole.

Ayurveda: Ayurveda, also known as the sister science of Yoga, will be introduced as a complimentary technique during one special workshop. Our guest teacher will be coming in Lembongan especially to initiate you to this wonderful and ancestral healing process. It has to do with balancing our own individual constitutions with the use of herbs, better dietary choices, and even our asana, pranayama and meditation practices to create better overall health, radiance and peacefulness.

PREREQUISITES 

To teach Ashtanga Yoga we must learn first how to practice Ashtanga Yoga.

During this intensive course, we will practice Ashtanga and Yin Yoga and focus on how to deepen your practice and how to teach others.

You feel ready to take the next step and wish to become a Certified Yoga Teacher?    We recommend you to have at least 1 year of a regular and dedicated Yoga asana Practice and to have a least 6 months of Ashtanga Yoga practice.

You wish to develop your own practice, learn more about Yoga and all its aspects but you are not ready yet or do not wish to become a certified Yoga Teacher?       This course is also for you! It can be difficult to find the time and a place where to learn and practice more intensively than drop in classes and so this can be your time to do so without expectation of becoming a yoga teacher. If this is your wish, we recommend you to have practice any style as Vinyasa, Power Yoga or Ashtanga since more than 6 months. We will work with you on your practice to grow an asana, pranayama and meditation practice that can suits you on a daily basis. You will be able to follow exactly the same classes than the one choosing to be certify.

During the course we will be practicing the primary series of Ashtanga Yoga.

There is no asana level required to enter the course but we recommend you to know or learn the sequence before coming to the course.

FINAL ASSESSMENT

During the last week of the training you will have different assessment to complete, some written and some practical.
